Obituary for Violet Lillian Puymbroek (Petersen)

Violet Lillian  Puymbroek (Petersen)
Violet Puymbroek, age 96, of Allouez, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at a local nursing home. The daughter of the late William and Irene (Scott) Petersen was born April 30, 1920 in Gillett. She married Marvin Puymbroek on October 10, 1939 at St. Mary Catholic Church in De Pere, and he preceded her in death in 1989. She worked for a time as a caregiver at the Odd Fellow Home. Violet was a very talented musician, having a particular affinity for the piano and organ. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, and was a gifted painter, sketch artist, and bead artist. Her involvements included the Green Bay Senior Center, playing cards and dancing.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Marilyn Puymbroek of Allouez; grandson Brian (Diane) Puymbroek of Green Bay, great-grandchildren: Brandon Phillips, and Cory Phillips (significant other Taylor Bredael) and their two children Kiara and Olivia; siblings: Joan (Pat) Grady, Molly (the late Phillip) Weylandt, Jennine (George) Piotrowski and Mary Ellen (Merle) Weihing, nieces, nephews and other family.
In addition to her husband, Marvin, and parents, she was preceded in death by siblings: Marie (Victor) Van Remortel, John (Doris) Petersen and Hilda (Lester) Bahrke.
Family and friends may visit at Resurrection Catholic Parish, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, on Monday, August 29, from 9:30am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Monday with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Burial in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Unity Hospice.
Our family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Unity Hospice, Cottonwood Manor, and Odd Fellow Home for the special care given to Violet.
