Obituary for Darrell Roy Lemmens

Darrell Roy  Lemmens
Darrell R. Lemmens, age 72, of Denmark, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, September 22, 2016. The son of George R. Lemmens and Lorraine C. (VandenLangenberg) Lemmens was born March 3, 1944 in Green Bay. He graduated from Denmark High School in 1962, and served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1966 until 1971. On September 19, 1970, Darrell married Jane E. McCauley at St. Matthew Catholic Church. His banking career started at Kellogg-Citizens National Bank and then Denmark State Bank in 1969. Darrell became president and chairman of the board of directors for Denmark State Bank and Denmark Bancshares, Inc; where he also served as a member of the Audit, Compensation and Loan Committees for the bank.
Darrell had a long history of involvement in the community. He served as chairman of the board, vice-president and director of the McDonald-Zeamer Insurance Agency and was chairman/vice-president of Denmark Agricultural Credit Corp. As an active member of the Demark Lions Club, Darrell served as treasurer for 10 years, was honored with the Melvin Jones Award (the highest honor in Lions) and achieved 10 years of perfect attendance. In addition to being a lifetime member of the Denmark Gun Club, he was a member of the NRA (National Rifle Association) and a member of the ATA (Amateur Trapshooting Association).
Darrell was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Denmark, where he served on the Father Dionne Endowment Fund Committee and as a liaison for the Salvation Army. He also played/managed the Military Golfland’s premier fast pitch softball team, having played in 4 ISC World Tournaments.
Survivors include his loving wife Jane Eleanor (McCauley) Lemmens; three wonderful children and their spouses: Ellen (Matt) Goetsch and their children Emilia, Elizabeth and Jonah, Alison (special friend Andrew Rogers) Lemmens and Bryan (Julie) Lemmens and their children Jacob and Nathan; brothers: Roger (Pam) Lemmens and Kenneth (special friend Nancy Moe) Lemmens. He is further survived by his Aunt Dorothy Lemmens, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Lorraine and George Lemmens, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Eleanor (Kwitek) and Robert (Mac) McCauley, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family and friends may pay their respects at Cotter Funeral Home- Denmark Chapel, 536 County Road R, Denmark, on Monday, September 26, from 4-8 pm, with a prayer service to conclude the evening. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 10:00 am. Friends are then requested to meet at All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark for an 11:00 am mass with Fr. Bill O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
Our family would like to thank the caregivers in the Bellin Health ICU and Dr. Mortara for their compassion and care given.
