Obituary for Bernadine VanderKinter (Koenig)

Bernadine  VanderKinter (Koenig)
Bernadine M. VanderKinter, age 89, of Denmark, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at her home. She was born in Two Rivers, WI in 1927 to Joseph and Mary (Steinberger) Koenig. After graduating from Denmark High School in 1945, she married Merlin VanderKinter at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church in 1949. She enjoyed traveling to the western states, Florida, and Europe several times, and also enjoyed refinishing furniture, gardening, canning, playing Rummy, Scrabble and Sorry! Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a special blessing to her.
Survivors include her children: Paula, Nancy Froehlich, Thomas (Marilyn), Tracey (Tim) Luka, Pamela (Robert Valenta); daughter-in-law Cheryl; grandchildren: Jessica (Glen) VanDeHei, Andrew Froehlich, Joel (Cathy) Froehlich, Christopher (Megan Anhalt) Froehlich, Heather Luka; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Leona Bowe; sister-in-law Margaret Koenig; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Merlin, Bernadine was preceded in death by her daughter Lois; son Richard “Archie,” daughter-in-law Cheryl (Kudick) VanderKinter; grandson Jeffrey VanderKinter; granddaughter Ashley Luka; brother Wilbert Koenig; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Elmer and Emma VanderKinter; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Howie Bowe, Norman VanderKinter, Wallace (Joyce) VanderKinter.
Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home-Denmark Chapel, 536 County Road R, Denmark, on Monday, April 17, from 4-8pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church, 503 Grand Ave, Denmark, from 9:30am-10:45am. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am with Pastor Dan Schmidt officiating. Burial in Eastside Cemetery on County Highway P.
Our family would like to thank the caregivers at Bellin Hospital, Aurora BayCare Medical Center and Aurora at Home Hospice. Special thanks to Dr. Gerald Eckardt.
