Obituary for Shirley M. Panosh (Haack)

Shirley M. Panosh (Haack)
Shirley M. Panosh, Obituary

Mount Horeb - Shirley M. Panosh passed away on April 24, 2017 after a long courageous battle with heart and kidney diseases.

Shirley was born on April 16, 1935 to the late Raymond and Margaret (Graff) Haack in Algoma, Wisconsin. Shirley graduated from Algoma High School in 1953. After graduating, she moved to Green Bay where she attended the Wisconsin College of Cosmetology. She met Leo J. Panosh, the love of her life, while golfing at the Alaska Golf Course. They were married in 1959 during springtime, her favorite time of the year, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Algoma. They had five children and enjoyed their time as a family until Leo’s death in 1979.

Shirley worked for many years in the health care field in Green Bay: St. Vincent Hospital for 25 years, St. Mary’s Hospital for one year and Aurora Bay Care Medical Center for 6 years until her retirement.

Shirley was a passionate collector of angels, butterflies and teapots. She had many hobbies including flower gardening, following Packer and Badger sports, reading historical fiction and biographies, needlework, and cooking. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for college and pro sports was remarkable. She enjoyed traveling with family to Sea Island, Georgia, New York City, Maryland, Arizona and Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

She is survived by one sister, Lee Ann Haack; two brothers, Ray (June) Haack and Dale (Linda) Haack; one son Tom (Heidi) and four daughters, Peggy, Polly (Stuart Rossmiller), Jennifer (John Bielski) and Abby (Phil Froemming); four precious grandchildren, Madeline and Harrison Bielski, Claire and Leo Rossmiller.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Shirley wanted to make sure her friends knew how much she cherished their friendships. She greatly appreciated the many calls, cards, visits and prayers. The Panosh Family wishes to express special thanks to the many health care professionals for their kind and dedicated care over the years.

According to Shirley’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. A private family burial will be held. Memorials may be made in Shirley’s name to: National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin, 10909 W. Greenfield Avenue, Suite 201, West Allis, WI. 53214, www.kidneywi.org
