Obituary for Robert Wayne "Bob" Beerntsen

Robert Wayne "Bob" Beerntsen
Robert W. “Bob” Beerntsen, age 80, of Green Bay, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 with family at his side. He was born on December 26, 1936 to Henry and Martha (Jordan) Beerntsen in Green Bay. On October 28, 1961 he married Carole Knaus at St. Philip Catholic Church in Green Bay with his brother, the Reverend Harold Beerntsen officiating. Bob served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Sergeant from 1956-1958 in San Diego and served in the reserves from 1958-1963.
Bob owned and operated R.W. Beerntsen Construction for over 45 years, where he built over 350 houses and some commercial buildings including: John Nero’s Restaurant and Beerntsen’s Candies. His work was meticulous, and after he visualized something, he made sure it was finished correctly. He enjoyed going to his brother, Fr. Harold’s cottage on Shay Lake, cheering on the Brewers and Packers and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children: Robert J. Beerntsen, Julie (Ken) Smudde and Sandra (Robert) Glowacki; grandchildren: Brad, Alex, Ann, Kristin, Jenny and Abbie; sisters: Gloria (Norbert) Keyser and Nancy Coel; sisters-in-law: Theresa Beerntsen and Carol Knaus, other family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Carole and son, John; brothers: Melvin and Fr. Harold, and his sister Dorothy.
Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Monday, July 10 from 9:00am until the time of service at 11:00am with Deacon Don Ropson officiating. Interment in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
Our family would like to thank everyone that worked alongside Bob during his career, from the many employees and subcontractors to his son, John. We would also like to thank all of the staff at Santa Maria Nursing Home, St. Vincent Hospital and Unity Hospice for their hard work and dedication to our father’s care.
The family respectfully asks flowers not be sent, but rather donations be made to a memorial fund that is being established.
