Obituary for Bruce J Lund

Bruce J Lund
Bruce J. Lund, 61, of De Pere was greeted by angels and led to heaven unexpectedly of natural causes on Sunday, January 28th. He was born on April 13, 1956 to John and Ruth Lund (Ponczoch) in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

From an early age, Bruce had a love and a passion for the outdoors. That love for the outdoors followed him through life with many hunting and fishing expeditions. Whether he was out on the water fishing for walleye, sitting in his deer stand waiting for that big buck, or just being with the guys at deer camp, he lived for those moments and the joy that it brought him.

Bruce was also an avid sports enthusiast with a love for the Green Bay Packers. He loved sharing the story of how he attended the Ice Bowl at just 11 years old.

There were two roles in Bruce’s life that brought him by far the greatest joy. One of these roles was being a devoted Dad. His daughters were his everything and there is nothing he wouldn’t do for them. You would often hear him talking about his girls to a random stranger and beaming with pride. When tough decisions needed to be made or his daughters needed advice, he always had the perfect words of wisdom to guide them on their way. The other role that made him smile from ear to ear was being a Papa. He had a way with babies. He could calm the fussiest baby with his soothing voice and gentle touch. He loved to brag about this talent of his and would say “I just have the magic touch,” He had a special relationship with all of his grandkids and being around them brought out the kid in him.

Through our extreme sadness, we draw on our faith and know that Bruce’s daughter Kristin is now reunited in heaven in her Daddy’s arms.

Bruce is survived by Debbie, the love of his life, his daughters Erin (Wayne) VanEnkevort, Sarah (Matt) VanEffen; grandchildren Jack, Ava, and Baby VanEnkevort; Henry, Hadley, Camden, and Cooper VanEffen. Sisters Bonnie Saboda, Polly (Paul) Lund; brother Jon (Kim) Lund; nieces and nephews Liz, Chris, Mindy, and Jazzmyn; and many beloved cousins and friends.

Bruce is preceded in death by his daughter Kristin, his parents John and Ruth Lund and other aunts and uncles.

Family and friends may visit at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive, Ledgeview, on Friday, February 2, from 2:00pm until 4:45pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5:00pm Friday with the Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family. Online condolences at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
